Counseling Center

Sara Piersons is the guidance counselor for BMS students grades 6-8.  Mrs. Piersons has been with the district since October of 2013.  Prior to her time here, she served as a K-8 counselor in upstate New York for 7 years.

The counselors in Briarcliff Manor school district work with students, parents, teachers, staff and administration in many different ways through a comprehensive guidance and counseling program. They are committed to our students' academic development and personal growth. They assist all students in gaining an understanding of their learning style and offering coping strategies and support when necessary, as well as an understanding of the limitations imposed by the institution and society.

Important to this process is helping our students to develop a positive self-image and prepare them for the next stage in their lives.  Daily activities in the guidance suite may include: meeting with students, individual and group counseling, Crisis Intervention and parent conferences.

New students are seen individually or in small groups by the counselor in the fall to better acquaint the students with the middle school. It is hoped that through this introduction, students will quickly become comfortable with their surroundings. We encourage parents and students to meet so that information can be shared about the student's needs and interests.
